Story behind this cartoon.. In late 1994 I scribbled a few figures and a caption something like "Ensign Johnson realizes that he is the only red-shirt." I had toyed with drawing a tentacle reaching for him from the right, also. Months later I decided to draw the cartoon in the style of Gary Larson's Farside. I sketched the characters the way Mr. Larson had drawn Trek characters in his "Floating Zsa Zsa Gabor head" cartoon. After it was done, I individually resized the five figure drawings to make them more in scale, (I did this by xerox enlarging/reducing). I then cleaned up the drawing, xeroxed it and then printed out the caption and frame using Microsoft Powerpoint. Then I pasted the whole thing up and re-xeroxed it. Some months later I created a halftone-shaded version of it. In mid 1995 I scanned the drawing into my Macintosh computer and colorized it, and then created various sized jpeg files of it.
